Fort Collins High School has a rich history and tradition. The school was established June 1, 1889, and is the oldest high school in the city.
The football program began in 1905 when the young school boasted an enrollment of only 193 students. The first organized game took place at Longmont High School where FCHS, playing without a coach, lost 20-0.
Fort Collins High School would go on to win 12 state titles:
1922-23 Fort Collins 16-Colorado Springs 7
1923-24 Fort Collins 0-Colorado Springs 0 (FCHS was declared the winner because "Colorado
Springs failed to defeat the Lambkins"--Spilled Ink, 1923)
